Overview of research

I am an Assistant Professor of Teaching at Carnegie Mellon University, and the Director of Research on Diversity and Inclusion for Dietrich College. My research focuses on social identity, especially in the context of stereotypes and threat, and I run the Data-Driven Diversity Lab (D3 Lab). Using lab and field studies, I test how people’s construal of social situations (and of themselves within those situations) affects both immediate and long-term outcomes. I conduct intervention research in real-world contexts, looking to improve outcomes in domains such as academic performance, belonging, and wellbeing.
